VI

Dear readers,

Allen and Amy looked at the moving figure trying to remove its hands from the door. They just barely dodged the attack of the figure by rolling out of the way. If their counting and reflexes were late, they would most likely be spending their time staring at the hand that appears in the middle of their body. They were sitting with the monster in between them, still struggling with the door.

“How the heck did it get that much strength?” Allen exclaimed.

“Why don't you ask it yourself," replied Amy in sarcasm. "Run… We have to… And fast.”

Allen realised something. The hall was becoming darker. He looked out of the window. Amy also noticed it. There was a heavy fog gathering outside the window, and it was blocking the moonlight. Amy looked at Allen, who looked back in fear. She saw Allen shaking his head and mouthing, “no” before darkness completely sealed off her vision. Everything was silent in the hall.

That only lasted for a short time. A wood-breaking sound broke the silence, and there was an unwanted light shining into the room. Amy was afraid… The light came from two holes, and it wasn’t far from her. She knew it was around, but her fear grew stronger for she knew not where. She slowly lay on the floor like a cocoon. She took short breaths and calmed herself.

Amy stared directly at the light that shone at the floor just a few inches away from where she was lying. She prayed that Allen was safe and was doing something to save them both. She nearly let out a sound when she saw a rotten leg came in the way of the light, blocking her view of the light. She didn’t dare move, and there were worms crawling from the leg towards her. She shut her eyes and braced herself.

She heard a spark. Immediately she opened her eyes. The worms were gone, and the leg vanished. She turned to her other side and saw a fire hovering across the hall. There were sounds of something hopping towards the fire.

“Amy!” Amy heard Allen calling out for her nearby.

She got up and placed her hands in the light. Allen took it and pulled her away from the door into a corner of the hall. Their retinas had yet to adjust themselves.

“I guess that match was actually useful. Good thing I brought it along,” Allen whispered.

Yeah useful, thought Amy, now what? They heard it moving again. Somewhere around the place the coffin was. It moved towards the door. They saw its legs wandering about the place. Then, it disappeared into the darkness. They were well hidden, until something unexpected happened.

“Ahh-Chooo!” Allen sneezed and the flame gone.

Shit, Allen cursed right after the sneeze. Amy was shocked… Was that a joke? They heard hurried footsteps going their direction. They turned right and made a dash. They made it to the other corner of the hall, and they heard the ‘thing’ scratching at the wall where they were. They escaped the danger, or so they thought.

Allen suddenly felt hands on his shoulder, and he was pulled backwards. The hands had sharp fingernails as he felt pain on his shoulders. Allen held Amy’s hands tightly and he pulled Amy along. There was something else in the room other than that monster. Whatever it was, Allen and Amy fell to its hands...
